Our humble company had its not-so-humble beginnings around 50 years ago with an industry titan known as DuPont. Taking on DuPont with Our Innovative Custom-Engineered Teflon Coating
The year was 1971. Already a global powerhouse, DuPont was on the cusp of expanding into the biomedical industry, which would go on to cement its place in history as one of the largest and most diverse manufacturers in the world.
At that critical point in the company’s development, Dupont needed a specialized flexible Teflon tubing solution for their first generation ACA blood analyzer machine.
Lew Powell stepped up to the plate, engineered an innovative Teflon solution, and essentially turned his garage into a custom tube manufacturing operation for a global conglomerate.
Built upon that strong foundation, Electro Systems has grown immeasurably throughout the last five decades to become one of the world’s leading innovators in custom tubing, cabling, wiring harnesses, and other quality-engineered electronics solutions.
Carrying Our Inertia of Innovative Manufacturing into the 21st Century
The successes stemming from our initial partnership with DuPont led to Electro Systems establishing itself as one of the leading providers of custom tubing and wiring solutions for half a century.
With an innovative project for Dupont under our belts, a multitude of customers became aware of our unique ability to innovate and solve challenging manufacturing problems with efficient, out-of-the-box solutions. Lew and his team quickly gained ground as a contract manufacturer, working with TA Instruments (another DuPont spinoff) providing wire and cable assemblies for a thermal analysis machine in development. Once again, Electro Systems was able to provide a reliable solution, build a long-term partnership and establish a solid reputation.
Family Owned for 50 Years – Innovative American Manufacturing Solutions
Bill Powell (Lew’s son) worked in every aspect of the business and took over operations in 1986, until he officially purchased the business in 2006. Under his leadership, we relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility in 2009. Another integral member of the Electro Systems family is Andrew Harrison, a former IBM and Allergan veteran, now serving as the president.
